The Problem of Human Rights in Northern Cyprus

How is it acceptable that in Europe a country is still divided by a border and people in one part of the country, namely Northern Cyprus, are discriminated against? Europe has a guilt and a responsibility here that it still does not fulfill.

After our constant submissions to the United Nations, which mean a continuation of the Kofi Annan Plan, there was finally movement in the negotiations, which have now been suspended for 10 years. One cannot really say that they have an excessive interest in the well-being of Europe, but did the Americans have to send a signal for the reunification of Cyprus to Europe again here? In February 2014, US diplomat Victoria Nuland gave a clear signal for talks and in May 2014, Vice President Joe Biden declared an interest in a reunification of Cyprus. At the very least, a bizonal solution should immediately secure the equality of both island states.

The rapprochement is now being advanced by INGO Diplomaten International. As early as January 2014, a delegation of the organization met with the State President Dr. Dervis Eroglu and presented measures that are intended to initiate the reunification process. America must also be included here. During the cordial meeting with the Foreign Minister of Northern Cyprus, Minister Özdil Nami, the idea of a federal structure with equal states was presented and the tasks of the organization Diplomaten International were discussed.

The main goal is the reunification of Cyprus! The organization Diplomaten International assured State President Dervis Eroglu through its President Günther Meinel of full support. With the President of Parliament in Northern Cyprus, Dr. Sibel Siber, the situation of both island states was discussed. INGO Diplomaten International will continue to work for human rights and stand against the previous violations of rights and discrimination of people in this part of the island.

Thus, the necessary border crossing to the Greek part of Cyprus is not permitted. A flight attendant from Lufthansa explained that it is forbidden for her to make an announcement in Turkish. Unfortunately, such examples are the order of the day.
