Accredited diplomats often act as catalysts for building successful international cooperation. They create bridges and networks for the benefit of all participating countries.
The farewell of Ms. Consul Malgorzata Wejtko, head of the Trade and Investment Department at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Cologne, on June 28, 2012—after many years of collaboration—was a very moving moment, yet it should not be a goodbye. She will use her new responsibilities in Poland to continue the good relations and cooperation to mutual advantage.
By resolution of the international DMW presidium, Consul Malgorzata Wejtko was appointed an honorary member in recognition of her services to German-Polish relations.
In his laudatory speech, Chairman Günther Meinel emphasized that a network of cooperation has emerged not only between Germany and Poland. Polish companies have also become active and successful in Iraq, Turkey, and Egypt.
As an honorary member, Consul Malgorzata Wejtko was honored once again on July 5, 2012. Present was Poland’s celebrated “superstar” Steffen Möller, who also presented his new book, already back on the bestseller lists!
A joint appearance was agreed upon to demonstrate that integration can succeed in other ways as well.
When Mr. Möller read from his book, he could hardly pause—he signed countless copies!
Chairman Günther Meinel also thanked the Consul General of the Republic of Poland, Ms. Jolanta Róża Kozłowska, for her warm words at the farewell. The excellent cooperation with the Consul General is a motivation to continue supporting Polish companies.
There is also a long tradition of collaboration with Ms. Petra Wassner, CEO of NRW INVEST. New projects in health technology were agreed upon.
Fond memories were shared with Consul General Elzbieta Sobotka, who now leads the consulate in Munich, as she previously worked in Cologne and supported many joint cooperation projects with Poland.
With new tasks already awaiting, there is no pause.
Thanks go to all the good partners and reliable friends!
